Book Summary:

A demon without a heart and the thief who stole it.

Evie

I sought excitement and adventure when I came to Catanis, the city that never sleeps. The annual masquerade provided many opportunities to steal valuable items from the rich and powerful.

But, evil people are searching for me and I must conceal my identity, otherwise I will end up in a cage.

An unusual piece of jewel caught my eye, but little did I know that I had targeted the wrong person. He is one of the most powerful people in Catanis, and rumor is that he has no soul.

No matter where I go, his light gray eyes follow me.

I don’t know if I can escape this time . . .

Bjorn

Years of nothing but death and destruction, and constant wars made me who I am. I don’t know when I stopped feeling anything except anger and cold indifference about everyone and everything.

I hate this city. I hate the crowds of courtesans, street performers, and city drunks who live like the war at their border has nothing to do with them.

Then she crossed my path and took what was mine.

She is a liar and a thief.

I will be damned if I ever fall for her tricks…

My Thoughts:

This is a wonderful slow-burn romance with plenty of intrigue. The world-building is fabulous and the characters are top-notch. I loved the elements of magic and the whole street fair vibe of the book. The main FMC Evie was always dressed in fancy colorful dresses. She was out for excitement and adventure. The MMC Bjorn is a broody, dark soul who is out to stop a war. When they meet while she steals his bracelet sparks fly. They are drawn together from that moment on. The book kept me interested until the end and I loved every minute of it.
