Book Summary:

Rules were meant to be broken.

Hockey is my life. How could it not be when I’m the youngest daughter of Ace Moreau, hockey legend turned coach?

It only makes sense since I live and breathe the game that I would want a player of my own. Given my access to the team, you’d think it would be easy to choose from the catalog of athletic hunks carving up the ice, right?

Wrong.

Daddy dearest has made it clear that under no circumstances are any of his players allowed to touch his daughters.

But I won’t be deterred. I only need one to break the rules with me.

Cal Berg, the Comets’ star defenseman, is bossy, arrogant, and thinks I’m just riding my dad’s coattails. Verbally sparring with him, provoking a reaction, is what I live for. We HATE each other.

Or so I thought . . .

One drunken slip has me rethinking everything.

Suddenly, my objective has changed. I don’t want just any player; I’m fully focused on bagging the blueliner.

*Bagging the Blueliner is the first book in the Connecticut Comets Hockey series but can be read as a standalone.
*The Connecticut Comets Hockey series is a spin-off series of Scoring the Princess from the Remington Royals series.

My Thoughts:

I have read all three books in the Remington Royals series and couldn't wait to get to Hannah's story. Hannah the MFC is a feisty brunette who tells it how it is. She has no filter. She loves hockey having grown up with her dad as the Connecticut Comets head coach. She knows more about hockey than most. But her dad has strict no dating my daughter rules. Well, that's not going to fly with Hannah. Poor Cal the MMC doesn't stand a chance when Hannah sets her sights on him. He has hated Hannah from the moment he met her. Or has he? She makes his blood boil and sparks fly. He can't resist when she shows up on his doorstep in his jersey, only his jersey. But how will they get around her dad? Will he get traded?

P.S. If you like a good sports romance with a feisty MFC this is the book for you.
I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Book Summary:

Where danger dances on the edge of desire and love comes with a price.

Starting over in a small town, in a place Jane's never been, is hard enough without the fact that, her first day in a new gym, she sat on a guy's face. His
face!

Jane Barlow's life is upended when her father is killed by the cartel he's chasing. To keep her family safe, the FBI suggests moving somewhere new. Roped into a fake relationship that becomes anything but, she gives everything to Griffin, only for him to rip her heart out and then disappear.

Griffin Marsh, an almost-retired Navy SEAL (almost being the keyword), finds himself absolutely smitten by the strangest woman he's ever met and fumbles the bag at a very crucial moment. Stubborn as always, Jane refuses to give him the time of day, and he knows it's deserved.

My Thoughts:

This book is full of drama and entertainment. Jane the MFC is sassy and full of life, but she has worries too. She just moved to this small town with her mom and brother and started a new job as a high school teacher after her dad passed away. There is also her ex-stalker boyfriend. Who needs to be taken down a notch? Then she meets sweaty hottie Griffin the MMC. He's a Navy Seal on leave dealing with his family drama. When they meet sparks fly. This is a diet spice book, slow burn romance. So you aren't going to be getting the full-on graphics. But it still keeps you reading.

P.S. If you like a good military romance with a small bit of spice this could be the book for you. Read the trigger warning as the MMC does off a few people.

Book Summary:

He’s supposed to be my salvation, but he might just become my ruin.

I’m a prisoner in my own castle. Trapped by my apple-loving narcissist of a stepmother, desperate for my betrothed to rescue me.

Yet it’s not my one true love who comes—it’s the king of thieves.

He takes my stepmother’s mirror, the source of her power, but leaves with an additional treasure: me.

Now I’ve traded one prison for another. Penn Vanderbilt is cunning, captivating, and completely insufferable. He’s also secretive about his stolen goods . . . and the reason he kidnapped me.

Forget the thief’s plan. I’ve got one of my own: pretend to go along with his little scheme while plotting my escape.

I’ll only have to con the greatest con man alive. Never mind that I might be falling for him. The price of failing is my kingdom. But succeeding might just cost my heart.

Mirror of Malice is book one in Stolen Crowns, a series of steamy standalone but interconnected fairytale retellings. This enemies-to-lovers, opposites-attract book is perfect for fans of banter, (very) snarky heroines, and slow-burn fantasy romance.

My Thoughts:

Mirror of Malice is a unique fairytale retelling with Snow White / Robin Hood vibes. This story is full of snarky humor, fun characters, and magical intrigue. Liliath the FMC is funny, sexy, and a pain in the rear end. She wants to be the best Queen possible for her kingdom. Then bring in Penn the MMC the King of Thieves. He is sexy, snarky, and has a will of his own. He pushes all of Liliath's buttons. But is it all just a game so he gets what he wants in the end?

I loved the world-building with the magical elements and the slow-burn romance between Liliath and Penn. I also loved that you got to see glimpses of other characters involved in the story to make the series interesting to the end.

P.S. If you love a slow-burn romantic fantasy with a fairytale vibe this could be for you.

Book Summary:

Dive into the whimsical world of "Along the Cobbled Path." In this delightful story, animals and insects coexist in a vibrant garden. From Rose the hummingbird to Frizzy the caterpillar, this charming story introduces a cast of lovable characters who band together in the face of adversity. When a looming war threatens their peaceful haven, these garden dwellers teach valuable lessons about unity, kindness, and standing up for what's right.

Perfect for parents seeking a lighthearted yet meaningful read for their 6-10 year-olds. This entertaining book sparks important conversations: good versus evil, generosity, and community spirit.

My Thoughts:

I read this to my 5-year-old daughter. I picked it up because of the delightful cover. It looked so cute. My daughter loved the characters and their cute names. Who wouldn't want a friend called Frizzy? The story starts with a tea party. How cute is that? All the creatures are getting together to have fun. Needless to say, she enjoyed the story. I enjoyed the cute characters and the lessons the story taught along the way. It wasn't just a cute story it made you think.

P.S. Highly recommend it as a bedtime story for anyone who ages 5-10 years old. It was a delightful story with things to learn along the way. It was also quick at 117 pages.

Book Summary:

Fifteen-year-old Jack Bishop has mad skills with cars and engines but knows he'll never get a driver's license because of his epilepsy. Agreeing to participate in an experimental clinical trial to find new treatments for his disease, he finds himself in a completely different body--that of a girl his age, Jacqueline, who defies the expectations of her era. Since his seizures usually give him spazzed-out visions, Jack presumes this is a hallucination. Feeling fearless, he steals a horse, expecting that at any moment he'll wake back up in the clinical trial lab. When that doesn't happen, Jacqueline falls unexpectedly in love, even as the town in the past becomes swallowed in a fight for its survival. Jack/Jacqueline is caught between two lives and epochs and must find a way to save everyone around him as well as himself. And all the while, he is losing time, even if he is getting out of algebra class.

My Thoughts:

I love time travel stories so this one drew me in. The story kept you reading to find out what was going to happen. I loved that Jack the main character got to be a girl when he jumped. It was interesting to see how he adapted to each situation. I also loved how they talked when he went back in time. The storyteller kept with the time. The narrator Josiah John Bildner also did a great job.

P.S. If you love time travel with a cute story this could be for you.

Book Summary:

She thought the human realm was dangerous, but it has nothing on Unseelie Fae Academy.

After being kidnapped by the Seelie and taken to the Fae realm, suddenly, Erica soon discovers she may never be able to return to her former life of hell on earth. Because. according to the king and queen, as the lost princess of the Seelie Court, Erica must attend the Unseelie Academy to foster relations between the Seelie and the Unseelie.

So what's worse than being forced to attend a hostile academy that hates you for belonging to the "wrong" court? Being stuck in a coed dorm with an Unseelie prince who wants to destroy you. This is exactly what Erica faces as the brooding enemy prince bullies her along with the rest of the Unseelie fae at the school.
They share a common secret, though, that could put them both in far worse danger than any school, magical or not. Because as much as they hate each other, they're starting to fall for each other too.

And even if Erica does learn to use her magic quickly enough to survive the torment of her bullies, there's little hope her heart will survive Maddox's loyalty to the Unseelie court.

My Thoughts:

You learn everything along with the MFC Erica. She comes to the fae realm after spending her whole life in the human world as a foster child. She knows nothing about fae or how to do magic. She has to learn all on her own since no one will help her learn. Especially the MMC Maddox. He wants to have her all to himself but isn't supposed to like her. But the sparks fly every time they are together. The chemistry between these two is over the top. I loved the whole feel of the hateful academy. The sub-characters could have used a bit more work. You didn't get to know anything about them besides that they were the MMC friends and dicks.

I stayed up late to finish reading this it was that good. Now to wait for book 2 A Court of Shadows.

P.S. If you like fantasy romance with a bit of spicy this could be the book for you. Make sure and read the trigger warning as there are some dark scenes.

Book Summary:

At 35, Sandy's life diverges from her idyllic dreams. Her husband, Johnny, once a seemingly promising partner, now embodies a monstrous abuser. Their turmoil affects not just Sandy but also her teenagers, Lisa and David.

When David steps in to defend his mother, Johnny becomes critically injured.

During Johnny's absence, the Hansen family experiences freedom from his control. Sandy navigates single motherhood and finds herself drawn to a man who introduces her to a world of love and passion.

Simultaneously, 14-year-old Lisa faces her first date with a longtime friend and neighbor, prompting the question: will their bond evolve into young love?

Upon Johnny's return, Sandy confronts a pivotal choice: return to the all-too-familiar abuse or embrace this newfound connection, defying her oppressive past.

Set in 1975, The End is the Beginning, showcases how the women of a small town grapple with love, trauma, and the courage to rewrite their destinies in the face of adversity.

My Thoughts:

This book is told from the mother and daughter's perspective. It's about an abusive household and what it's like living with that day and night. What kinds of choices do you have to make to survive and how hard it is to get out? What it is like for the children and everyone involved.

I think this was a good story about the happening of such a household. It made you think about what these women and children go through daily. How hard it is to escape. It showed how the mom is isolated in the home with no money of her own and has to beg for grocery money. She isn't allowed to have a job or go anywhere. She isn't allowed to have anything.

I think the story was a good one, but also had a few issues. For example, Mom/ Sandy ends up in the hospital and then goes to work at her new job the next day like nothing has happened and then a random guy hits on her. In reality, is she going to work with a black eye, and whatever else happens to her to end up in the hospital? And the son. After he puts Dad into the hospital it's like it never happened. I think there could have been a little more about the trauma involved. It just left a lot of questions. But that could just be me.

P.S. If you like a suspenseful, abusive, romantic story this could be for you. It gives you some insight into an abusive relationship. I highly recommend you read the trigger warnings before reading.
