Book Summary:

Charlotte Louise Grant is the reigning queen of love advice, dishing out wisdom on her popular online blog. Little do her readers know, her own love life is as parched as a desert. But with her thirtieth birthday looming, Charley is ready to take matters into her own hands and make love happen.

Armed with determination and a knack for awkward encounters, Charley sets out on a mission to find her perfect match. The only problem? The path to true love is paved with frogs – the kind that don't magically transform into Prince Charming.

From disastrous blind dates to laugh-out-loud encounters with quirky suitors, Charley's search for that elusive spark is a rollercoaster ride of hilarity. But as she wades through a sea of amphibians, Charley begins to wonder if true love even exists. Especially when the only man her heart wants thinks he’s too broken to ever love again.

My Thoughts:

Charley the MFC is super cute and feisty. She is out to find love by her 30th birthday. But she has to go out with a few frogs before finding Prince Charming. Little does she know her Prince Charming has been hurt by love before and may not be attainable. Can she convince him to give love another shot?

Super quick cute read filled with laughter and some tears. Highly recommend.

Book Summary:

The Gem

Marked by the Gods, Kya is forced to partake in a Trial for a chance to be deemed Worthy. If she succeeds, she’ll be gifted great powers. If she fails, she could lose her life or worse. But that’s only the start of her worries. Now, the same plague that took her home is spreading and threatening the fate of the realm. Can Kya survive the Trial of the Gods and gain the needed power to rid the world of the growing threat before it’s too late? Or will she be drawn to what awaits her in the shadows?

The Shadow

Ryker has waited a long time for her—his mate. Now he’s found her. He plans to claim what is rightfully his, but dark forces threaten to destroy his Nation should he embrace the bond he so desperately desires. Unable to escape the drive to be near her, he waits for his precious gem, lingering in her shadow.

Worthy of Fate is the first book in a new adult, dark fantasy romance series with an intriguing magic system, dark forces, Spirits, and forbidden fated mates.

My Thoughts:

If you love Jennifer Armentrout of Sarah J. Maas books this could be your new favorite author.
OMG. This fantasy romance duet novel is fabulous. The world-building is awesome and the characters are great. The MFC Kya is chosen by the gods to through a trial to prove if she is worthy or not to rule their people. She is strong and vibrant. Then there is the MMC Ryker a lord who has already been through the trials and proven his worth to rule their people. He is obsessive, with shadow powers, and of course hot. This is a fast-paced, action-packed story with magic. This story will keep you reading to the end with ghastly beasts, spirit animals, gods/goddesses, and curses/dark magic. Then you have the cliffhanger. Now to wait for book 2...

Book Summary:

Ellie Mack was the perfect daughter. She was fifteen, the youngest of three. Beloved by her parents, friends, and teachers, and half of a teenaged golden couple. Ellie was days away from an idyllic post-exams summer vacation, with her whole life ahead of her.

And then she was gone.

Now, her mother Laurel Mack is trying to put her life back together. It’s been ten years since her daughter disappeared, seven years since her marriage ended, and only months since the last clue in Ellie’s case was unearthed. So when she meets an unexpectedly charming man in a café, no one is more surprised than Laurel at how quickly their flirtation develops into something deeper. Before she knows it, she’s meeting Floyd’s daughters—and his youngest, Poppy, takes Laurel’s breath away.

Because looking at Poppy is like looking at Ellie. And now, the unanswered questions she’s tried so hard to put to rest begin to haunt Laurel anew. Where did Ellie go? Did she really run away from home, as the police have long suspected, or was there a more sinister reason for her disappearance? Who is Floyd, really? And why does his daughter remind Laurel so viscerally of her own missing girl?

My Thoughts:

This book pulls you in from the start. It's full of twists and turns and it carries you along through the whole story giving you little bits and pieces to keep you reading. You really become invested in finding out what happened to Ellie Mack. You really feel for Laurel, Ellie's Mom, and her disappointment in not getting the answers she needs.  I really liked it and the mystery involved.

The narrator Helen Duff did an excellent job. Highly recommend.

Book Summary:

Jake Ryan had been best friends with Jay Morgan since they were in middle school. Jake had always valued being an only sibling, especially when Jay’s younger sister, Rachel, was always in the picture. Her personality always rubbed Jake the wrong way, and the fact that she always had to butt into her big brother’s business annoyed him more than he could say.

Rachel, on the other hand, had way too much fun bothering Jake, he let it be known that she always rubbed him wrong, and she took great joy in making sure to always let it happen. Even after their drunk,
and oh stupid night, she still teased him. But when Jake came to be her personal one-man rescue mission to help her out of a blizzard, she wanted no part of it. It seemed a few minutes too long of arguing and annoying each other meant that they were stuck in her family cabin until help came if they came.

What could happen if two people who clearly hated each other, are forced to spend an unknown amount of hours together? Could they get over the bickering long enough to figure out how to get help? Could they actually pull together and work through their problems?
Better yet, could they finally stop denying the attraction they’ve both buried since high school?

My Thoughts:

Every time Jake and Rachel get together they bicker and fight about nothing. For as long as they have known each other they have had this amazing chemistry. They finally get to work out all that chemistry when a blizzard blows in and they find themselves stuck together. I loved the time stamp at the start of every chapter. It's amazing what can happen in one day. I also loved how frisky the MFC Rachel was. She wasn't afraid to take what she wanted. Jake of course was a hottie. Trying to do the right thing for his best friend, Rachel's brother Jay.

P.S. If you like a cute romance with some spice to it, this could be for you.

Book Summary:

Captain to the NYU Makos, Duke Lexington has a never-ending trust fund, NHL teams at each other’s throats to sign him, and a sizzling socialite girlfriend. Betrayal leaves him in an unexpected situation: fake dating his coach’s daughter, Olivia, to keep his captain patch.

A wrench is thrown into their secret arrangement when Duke crosses paths with Aspen, his rival’s little sister. She’s witty, sweet, and a tad precarious, especially in the riskiest moments, but she’s also the only girl who’s ever been off-limits.

Aspen’s overly protective brother detests the idea of Aspen dating hockey players, knowing firsthand how they treat women. Duke’s coach already has doubts about him, and losing Olivia could put an abrupt end to his hockey career.

Sneaking around with Aspen works for a while, but what happens when they’re caught by one of Duke’s teammates in the locker room? Will his scandalous choices catch up with him before the season ends, or will he slide under the radar long enough to win the championship game and save his career?

My Thoughts:

This is a quick read with plenty of spice. The things you do with a hockey stick. Who knew? You fall in love with Aspen the MFC and Duke the MMC right from the start. Aspen's dad and brother are on the rival team so you know that is going to cause some major problems. Then poor Duke is fake dating his coach's daughter. You can tell she's just looking to cause problems. Duke and Aspen just have to make it through the hockey season and then hopefully, everything will fall into place. I loved it!

P.S. If you love a dark hockey romance this could be the book for you.

Book Summary:

He broke my heart once. Now working with him might shatter it for good.

I’m chained to my crown. Queen of a court I don’t want. Ever since my brothers and father disappeared, I’ve been forced to rule, to give up the freedom I crave.

It’s all the pirate lord’s fault. Bastian Lore sailed into my life, charmed me completely, and then betrayed me. The scoundrel kidnapped my brothers and delivered them straight to the shadow court, where they’re trapped, their shadows now under the court’s control.

Worse, Bastian has returned—and his offer to rescue my brothers and find my missing father is too good to be true. All he wants in return? My help finding a cure for his mysterious illness. I don’t trust him, but if anyone can navigate the shadow court and get my family back, it’s him.

He’s as charming as ever. But I can’t fall for him again. If I’m not careful, it won’t just be my heart that I lose—it’ll be my family, my court… and my life.

Ship of Shadows is book two in Stolen Crowns, a series of steamy standalone but interconnected fairytale retellings. This enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance is perfect for fans of banter, (very) snarky heroines, and slow-burn fantasy romance.

My Thoughts:

OMG! Tee Harlowe did it again. I loved Gabby the MFC. She was strong, willful, and stubborn. Nothing was going to stop her from going after her pirate lord Bastian the MMC. Of course, he was hot, protective, and just as stubborn. He is also keeping all kinds of secrets. Which just adds to his bad-boy character. I loved the world-building and all of the characters. The world is full of magic, deceit, and romance. The story makes you laugh and want to throw something at times. It's also a slow-burn romance with a Peter Pan feel.

This is a stand-alone book but I recommend reading book one Mirror of Malice. They do overlap a little bit and it's equally as good. Now to wait for book three Tower of Tempest due June 20, 2024.

P.S. If you love a slow-burn romance with a pirate fairytale theme this could be for you.
