Book Summary:

Hattie McNamara, a southern girl born and bred, has never seen a hockey game in her life, but when the offer to become the Seattle Vipers' new Assistant Director of Media and Marketing lands in her lap, she can't possibly say no. Leaving Texas and her unhinged ex in the rearview is just what the doctor ordered. Now, she's in a new town, a new time zone, a new climate for crying out loud and feeling very alone. That is, until she meets star goalie, Connor Shepherd. He's so good-looking it should be a crime and they have an intense connection, but the last thing she needs is a new relationship on top of everything else. The chemistry between them can't be denied though, and the two become fast friends and nothing more. No benefits. No dating. Just friends...

When Connor finds out that Hattie despises his favorite holiday, he takes it as a challenge to change her opinion and make her love Christmas-and Connor Shepherd doesn't back down from a challenge. They've both agreed that dating isn't on the agenda, but the more time they spend together, the more Connor falls. His life isn't exactly uncomplicated these days, so trying for more with Hattie may not be a good idea or it could turn out to be the best one he's ever had.

Will Hattie fall in love with Christmas...and maybe Connor too?

My Thoughts:

I've seen all the hype about hockey romance online here lately. So I couldn't pass this one up. It did not disappoint. Hattie is a strong go-getter with a strong dislike of Christmas. Conner is the hot goalie and a single dad who loves everything Christmas. It's a match made in heaven. This book had lovable and relatable characters with enough banter, tension, and spice to keep you reading. Can Conner win Hattie over to love Christmas and him?

P.S. If you love hockey romance books or just romance with some spice this one was great. Can't wait to read the next Viper Sin Bin Novel.

One woman battling for a new reign, one woman learning the old ways, their separate threads will twist and turn into a tale of mayhem, mystery, and magic.

My Thoughts:

I listened to this on Audible and Elle Newlands really brought the story to life. She makes you feel like you are right there in the story.

This is the third book in the 6 book series. I loved that this series is written with the accent of the auld ones and Elle really does a fabulous job narrating. I love the world-building and all of the characters in this series. There are times it feels like it dragging but it all comes together in the end. The book makes you fall in love with the characters and want to see what is going to happen.

This is not a quick read at 561 pages or 19 hours and 36 minutes of listening. But well worth it. I loved the story and can't wait to find out what happens in Book 4: The Forbidden Land.

P.S. If you love fantasy, fiction with a great world and characters this could be the book for you. If you haven't tried an audiobook I highly recommend this one. Elle Newlands is an excellent narrator.

Book Summary:

He calls me perfect.

His flawless pet.

His good girl.

Broken down and wounded by my emotionally neglectful ex, I wanted someone to tell me I was good enough.

Then, I stumbled into a new job with a boss who brought me to my knees—literally. He has me do things a real secretary would never do.

Emerson Grant tells me I’m more than just good enough.

I’m worthy of his praise.

There are a million reasons why I should stay away. The owner of the Salacious Players’ Club is not just my new boss, he’s twice my age.

And my ex-boyfriend’s father.

With him, I am treasured. I am adored. I am his.

I’m a good girl, but I’m falling for the wrong man.

Emerson Grant knows what he wants—

And he wants me.

So how far will I go to hear his approval?

My Thoughts:

The Salaciuos Player's Club is a 6 book series. They can be read as stand-alone.

Oh my... She breaks up with her boyfriend and then ends up working for his dad who owns a sex club. Nothing naughty is going to happen with that setup.

This book was intriguing right from the start. I loved that we learned new back story throughout the book. The characters were wonderful. Charlie or Charolette was a likable character with lots of spunk. Hot Dad Emerson was a great male character. He was kind, likable and douting. You felt like he really cared about Charlie. This was a great book with plenty of spicy scenes to keep you reading.

P.S. If you like romance books with some spicy this could be the book for you. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

Book Summary:

The only thing that can save the realms now is the one thing more powerful than the Fates.

After a startling betrayal ends with both Sera and the dangerously seductive ruler of the Shadowlands she has fallen madly in love with being held captive by the false King of the Gods, there is only one thing that can free Nyktos and prevent the forces of the Shadowlands from invading Dalos and igniting a War of Primals.

Convincing Kolis won’t be easy, though–not even with a lifetime of training. While his most favored Revenant is insistent that she is nothing more than a lie, Kolis’s erratic nature and twisted sense of honor leave her shaken to the core, and nothing could’ve prepared her for the cruelty of his Court or the shocking truths revealed. The revelations not only upend what she has understood about her duty and the very creation of the realms but also draw into question exactly what the true threat is. However, surviving Kolis is only one part of the battle. The Ascension is upon her, and Sera is out of time.

But Nyktos will do anything to keep Sera alive and give her the life she deserves. He’ll even risk the utter destruction of the realms, and that’s exactly what will happen if he doesn’t Ascend as the Primal of Life. Yet despite his desperate determination, their destinies may be out of their hands.

But there is that foreseen unexpected thread—the unpredictable, unknown, and unwritten. The only thing more powerful than the Fates…

My Thoughts:

This book picks up where Book 2 (A Light in the Flame) left off. This is not a stand-alone book you should read books 1 and 2 before this book.

This book has great world-building and fabulous characters. It made me cry, and it made me laugh. Kolis is just... well I hate him. You really feel all that when reading this book. As for Sera and Nyktos, you can't help but root for them and the love they bring to the pages.

Jennifer is full of storytelling ability. She reels you in and leaves you wanting more. I listen to this book on Audible. Let me just say Stina Nielsen is a fabulous narrator. She makes you feel all the feelings. She brings so much to the story. If you haven't listened to her narrate give her a try. You won't be sorry.

P.S. If you love fantasy, and romance books with a kick a** female character this is the book for you. I loved it and can't wait for book 4 (Born of Blood and Ash) coming May 7, 2024. The wait will be torture!

Book Summary:

Two lovers, our dragons, eggs on the way, and one cottage.

It’s everything I need to be happy. But my partners were meant for greater things, I can feel it in my bones.

Kirby is radiance and light. His presence is too big for a Welsh valley in the middle of nowhere.

Cai is doing so well, but he is clearly a shattered man.

They both need more and I need to give it to them. The world needs them too. It would be selfish of me to keep Cai and Kirby to myself.

If only I knew how to get us out of this situation.

Then, the night Ri lays his eggs, everything changes.

I’m having visions. I know things I shouldn’t. I’m guided to a miracle for Cai.

And when an injured tylwyth falls into my lap, I know just what to do.

The world is changing, but with Kirby and Cai by my side, nothing, absolutely nothing is going to keep me down.

DragonSeer is set in our modern world, one where dragons fly every night, you just can’t see them. It contains a gay 'Why choose' love triangle, with high steam, high stakes, high angst & a happy-for-now ending.

It is book two of the series which is intended to be read in order.

It contains content that may be upsetting for some readers. Please use the 'Look Inside' or sample feature to view the copyright page for further details.

My Thoughts:

This second book is told from Harlan's perspective. You definitely need to read book one (Dragonrider) before you read this book.

I loved the story told by another character in the story. That is always interesting to me to see another view, but carry on the story. This time we got to lay dragon eggs, figure out things aren't always as they seem, and start a war. Harlan, Cai, and Kirby's relationship grew and I loved each of their characters. They are each so different and bring something of their own into the story. They are all very supportive of each other and protective. This book has a fantastic storyline and great world-building. There are plenty of spicy scenes.

I loved the cover.

P.S. If you love dragons, love triangles, and fantasy storylines this book could be for you. I can't wait for book 3: Dragonking coming on February 14, 2024. You can pre-order now!

Book Summary:

I’m not like most women. I don’t have fantasies of finding the perfect man and settling down to have two point five children.

My job is my baby.

My dream position is so close I can taste it, but the rug is pulled out from beneath me when I find out there’s a catch: they want the role filled by someone who is married.

Liam Remington is my best friend, Natalie’s, brother-in-law with a hero complex. We’ve both been living with her for the past three years, helping to raise her four small children after she fled an abusive marriage.

When Liam finds out about the conditions of my promotion, he comes to me with a proposal: we get married on paper. I get a fair shot at my dream job, and he gets his family off his back about finding a wife.

Oh, and did I mention he’s a prince? A second son, but still.

I agree; only because we’ve been roommates for so long, I know we can handle it long-term.

What I wasn’t counting on was the intimate touches, heated glances, and Liam’s over-the-top protectiveness of me as we put on a show as man and wife for both my superiors and his family.

I keep trying to convince myself that I’m just playing pretend with the prince.

Why is it that playing pretend has never felt so real?

*Playing Pretend with the Prince is the second book in the Remington Royals series and can be read as a standalone.

My Thoughts:

Book two did not disappoint. Amy and Liam clash just right. He wants to control everything and she likes to push his control buttons. Made for a fun story with twists and turns. The way Amy puts Liam in his place is great. "Amy: Are you home? I can't get the satellite to work on the TV in the bedroom. Can you help me?" Poor Liam...
Amy's a sexy go-get what she wants woman. I loved the couple's troubles and interactions. The whole thing was great.

P.S. If you love romance, and a little spice with a prince this could be the book for you. Waiting for book three (we need to get Hannah hooked up)

Book Summary:

A midnight intruder. A handsome savior.
Turns out, I'm not just an orphan.
I’m the last Fae of my time.

And the last hope for a forest realm I haven’t seen since birth.

One minute, I'm fearing for my life on earth.

The next, I'm plunged into the strange world of Noctura, learning the ancient magic of my people.
And then there’s Silas.

With his sharp jawline, and hazel eyes that see right through me—he's more than just my protector.
He's my anchor, and I can’t live without him.
Literally.

Everything isn’t as it seems when friends become foes and old secrets are revealed.

Can I piece together clues from the past to avenge my family and save my new home from a rising evil hell-bent on destroying everything I love?

My Thoughts:

This one was just all right for me. I didn't really care for the main characters. Briar and Silas. Briar was kind of a pushover just going along and doing what was required and what she was told. Her main man Silas was kind of a butt. The story had great world-building and I loved the whole idea of the world and the imagery it created but would have loved stronger main characters. They just left me feeling like they could do more. This is only book one so I may give book two a try when it comes out. I would like to know what happens. So it was interesting enough for me to give the next book a shot.

P.S. Leave me a comment if you read it and what you thought.
