Kya

Zalen

After the brutal murder of the King, Zalen’s plan is thrust into motion, allowing him to take the opportunity to claim the Kingdom. With his new-found supremacy, he can finally capture his worthy prey—Maera. But his greatest prize is now in peril. Can he discover the veiled threat to his power, or will his reign come to an untimely end before it’s even begun?

Malina

Malina struggles to bear the weight of what she’s done. Unable to cope, she turns to the one thing that will help her forget. She finds it’s the obstacle she must vanquish to complete the task that has been laid before her. Can she overcome the hold her new obsession has on her, or will she fall to her demise?

My Thoughts:

I could not wait to read this after the cliffhanger from book 1. I loved that we learned more about the villain Zalen and his lady love, Maera, while also seeing Melina and Hakoa's story take shape. And of course, the main characters Kya and Riker. I loved the world-building and all of the characters—yes, even the villains. The storyline kept me reading into the wee hours and wanting to pick it right back up in the morning. The plot twists are something else. I loved everything about the whole book except the cliffhanger... I mean really more waiting. Hopefully, it's not too long!
